Montreal Underground City

MontrealUndergroundCity@GlobalduniyaCanada

RESO, also known as the Underground City (La ville souterraine in French), is the name given to a collection of connected office towers, hotels, shopping malls, apartment and commercial complexes, convention centres, universities, and performing arts venues that make up the heart of Montreal's central business district, also known as Downtown Montreal. The name alludes to the network's underground connections between the buildings that make up it as well as to its seamless integration with Montreal Metro, the city's wholly underground rapid transport system. Additionally, the southern Mount Royal Tunnel entrance, where Place Ville Marie and Central Station are today, was the site of the initial version of the Underground City. The Eaton Center's lower levels between the McGill and Peel Metro stations

Despite the fact that the majority of the connecting tunnels are underground, many of the important thoroughfares and main access points are on the ground. There is also one skybridge, which connects the Lucien-L'Allier Metro station and Gare Lucien L'Allier. Although there are sizable commercial areas that are fully underground, in this sense, the Underground City is more like a ville intérieure than a true underground city.

Over half a million individuals are thought to utilise the network daily during Montreal's lengthy winters, when it is especially helpful.

The best places in Montreal for nightlife

Canada's party capital is Montreal. Everywhere you walk, there are positive feelings, and the nights are packed with top-notch clubs, pubs, live music venues, and tributes to a vibrant red light past. The nightlife in Montreal is among the greatest; our top bars are worth twice as much when you consider the incredible DJ lineups, the legal drinking age of 18, and the endless after-hours scene to check out after the clock strikes three in the morning. It's time to put on your finest drip and enjoy: Your most unforgettable evenings out on the town are waiting.

Ausgang Plaza

4,500 square feet of flexible space on St. Hubert in Rosemont can be used for anything you can imagine, including DJ sets, live music performances, local artist album launches, movie screenings, virtual reality projections, sound art installations, fine art vernissages, clothing line launches, and we're sure we've forgotten something. Expect a laid-back atmosphere to go along with its artsy and bohemian population since the audience is fashion-forward and community-focused.

Turbo Haus

On the surface, this could appear to be the best venue for smaller-scale hard rock, punk, and metal events, but there's more to it than that. This particular venue deserves praise for keeping its bar, which serves excellent cocktails, beer on tap, and wine by the bottle, separate from its performance space. This allows guests to stop by for a drink and listen before deciding whether to participate in the show, live band karaoke, movie screening, video game tournament, or chilli cook-off that is taking place, or simply to enjoy a drink and unwind. This mosh pit is one of the closest-knit in the city. No thugs are permitted.

Bar Le Ritz PDB

Back in 2014, Bar Le Ritz sprung from the ruins of the historic Montreal indie rock club Il Motore. You may discover live music, DJ nights, and parties after parties overlapping throughout a wide spectrum of programmes at this location on Jean-Talon on the outskirts of Mile-Ex. The audience is welcoming with a strong LGBTQ presence, and the music ranges from hip hop and electro to punk and indie rock with local and worldwide touring performers. It's the perfect place for individuals who are scared by conventional nightclubs or who prefer wild underground evenings. Keep an eye out for their retro dance events featuring themes from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. PDB stands for "Punks Don't Bend" in case you were wondering.

Le Rouge Bar

If you're from out of town (or you just don't get out enough) and you're wondering what's creating the traffic jams on Friday and Saturday evenings at the intersection of Prince-Arthur and Saint-Laurent Boulevard, this bottle-serving, high-skirted establishment is the cause. Le Rouge has been around for more than 17 years and plays a terrific blend of original music and classic favourites. Just be sure you register on the website beforehand to have your name on the list.

Le Système

This nightclub on Plaza St-Hubert describes itself as a mash-up of a restaurant, bar, club, venue, lounge, and social club. With a dance floor that comes to life owing to an amazing sound system, anticipate a lot of vinyl turntables and natural wines. But first, stop in to sample their food and platters of popped oysters. You may get a sense of the atmosphere by tuning into their Soundcloud account. The programming here is jam-packed with all different types of local performers playing practically every night of the week.

New City Gas

The industrial area of New City Gas is the place to go if you enjoy listening to electronic dance music. It's a huge renovated warehouse in Griffintown that covers two storeys and can seat up to 2,000 people. It's known for hosting EDM giants like Tiesto, David Guetta, Bauer, and Steve Angelo (Swedish House Mafia). Its expansive outdoor space has since been transformed into Bazart, a large Mediterranean bar, restaurant, and NFT gallery. Visit the lavish toilet area while you're there, which has a communal Turkish fountain covered in purple mood lighting and chandelier embellishments.

Crescent Street

Particularly when it hosts renowned Formula 1 parties throughout Grand Prix weekend, this West End street is one of the top nightlife hotspots in Montreal for visitors and suburbanites looking to go out. There are several venues to dine, drink, and dance spread throughout the three blocks between René-Lévesque Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street West.
