Vallea Lumina Whistler

Vallea Lumina is an immersive multimedia experience that takes place in the forests of Cougar Mountain in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. The experience is designed to showcase the natural beauty of the area and to create a magical and immersive experience for visitors.

Vallea Lumina takes visitors on a journey through the forest at night, using a combination of light, sound, and special effects to create a mystical and otherworldly atmosphere. The experience begins at the base of Cougar Mountain, where visitors are transported by shuttle bus to the start of the trail.

The story of Vallea Lumina is based on a local legend about two hikers who discovered a hidden valley filled with mystical creatures and enchanting landscapes. Visitors are guided through the story by an audio narration and a series of interactive elements that help bring the story to life.

Vallea Lumina is produced by Moment Factory, a Montreal-based multimedia studio that specializes in creating immersive and interactive experiences. The experience is open year-round and is suitable for visitors of all ages. It's a unique way to explore the natural beauty of the Whistler area and to experience the magic of the forest at night.

What To Expect

  • When you go to Vallea Lumina, expect a pleasant experience. The light displays are understated but stunning. It is not at all intimidating. Everything is done really artistically, elegantly, and with a touch of magic.
  • It's dark when you get to The Adventure Group's Basecamp (unless you go earlier in the day to do Superfly Ziplines, the RZR Tours, Snowmobiling or the Aerial Obstacle Course). The gravel parking area is illuminated at night, and there are lights leading up to the entrance. There are frequently a few campfires with seats surrounding them in the Basecamp area. There is a snack bar as well.
  • Follow the directions to the night walk lights attraction from the Basecamp. You ascend a flight of stairs after passing through a gate that is lit and has Vallea Lumina inscribed on it. At first, it's fairly dark, but the way is illuminated. You continue to walk along paths and up and down stairs for the next 30 or so minutes. You pass by a variety of light shows and fantastical sights along the route. Lovely music is playing in the background.
  • At Vallea Lumina, there are lanterns, projected movies, sparkling lights, and glowing trees in various locations. Additionally, you'll see fabricated lightning strikes, scenes from stories, and brilliant fake fireworks.
  • In several places, there is virtually full darkness between the numerous screens (but never 100 percent ). Just enough light is there at all times to allow you to see where you're going and where to tread. There are places where the illuminations are extremely faint, and there are places where they are strong and all around you.
