There are over 50 unique species, including the biggest Ant colony in captivity in North America . For a closer look at a certain species, staff members give "exhibition periods" throughout the day. During this period, viewers have the option of a safe bug handling experience if they so want. We had the opportunity to get close to Malaysian Jungle Nymphs, Tarantulas, Scorpions, Dead-Leaf Mantis, and Walking Sticks while we were visiting the Victoria Bug Zoo.
