This page is a route-selection hub for BC travellers. Whether you need a Schengen visa, ETIAS, a UK ETA, or another national visa depends on your passport, residence status, destinations, and purpose.
Start with the Schengen page for visa-required travellers and the ETIAS page for eligible visa-exempt travellers. A Europe hub is not a visa application and should not replace the destination authority’s instructions.
Budget approximately CAD $130–$145 for a standard adult Schengen fee, or about CAD $30–$35 equivalent for the current EUR 20 ETIAS fee once ETIAS is operational; UK ETA and national visa costs are separate.
Schengen decisions are normally about 15 calendar days and can reach 45 days; ETIAS is an online authorisation expected to return quickly but should be completed before travel. Peak appointments need extra lead time.
From BC, use this hub to choose the correct official route, then follow the destination country, EU, or UK government link. Schengen applicants may need an in-person Vancouver appointment; ETIAS and UK ETA are online authorisations.
Schengen short stays are normally capped at 90 days in any 180 days; ETIAS and UK ETA have their own validity rules. Read the approval carefully rather than assuming all Europe permissions are interchangeable.
The biggest mistake is treating every Europe trip as the same. Confirm passport eligibility, main destination, transit airports, and whether the traveller needs a visa, ETIAS, ETA, or a national long-stay route.
